Where does my help come from?

I lift up my eyes to the hills.
    From where does my help come?
[spoiler - it doesn't come from CHOP, or Tokuda. Or Adam.]
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
    he who keeps you will not slumber.
[Good. Because this trip is going to be a 24/7 adventure, most likely!]
Behold, he who keeps Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
    the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
    he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
    your going out and your coming in
    from this time forth and forevermore.

Psalm 121

 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
So do not worry about tomorrow;

Matthew 6:33-34a

Just a few snippets from where my bookmarks had me reading last night. And, randomly enough (there's that random deal again! I don't buy any of it!), Adam, too, was given the same chapters on the audio Bible he listens to over the past two days.

We had some big rugs pulled out from under us this morning. We learned that the wonderful doctor from Tokuda hospital in Sofia who has put so much passionate effort into these severely neglected children is not able to be working at this time, making Tokuda, according to our Bulgarian agency, pretty much as useless as a resource medically as the clinic where the girls will have their medical exams. Before we added Adam to our trip, I'd been counting on Tokuda to be able to handle anything that we'd run into while we were still in country.

Adam shared that CHOP Adopt is no longer able to help with the travel side of adoptions. That leaves him without the consult of the doctor he'd been planning on having while we were in flight.

We had quite a phone conversation this morning, but oddly enough, not one full of worry, but full of hope and anticipation of being able to see more clearly how God is going to be at work, as other things that we may be tempted to look to for help are taken away.

  1. Praying for your family, especially your beautiful new daughter and all involved in her care now and in the near and more distant future. I hope CHOP can make an exception to their policy for her for the few hours she will be flying home if the necessary legal releases are signed - that seemingly small thing could make a huge positive difference for her. You are welcome to share my suggestion with CHOP, of course! I am a RR and BOM advocate, friend of Alla V. of BOM and Andrea of RR, and a cousin to 2 from U. Best wishes to you all during this life-changing journey.
