This afternoon, Mira was moved from the PICU into the regular neuro wing of Gillette. She is still on the bipap nasal mask, but is currently not getting any supplementary oxygen. Still a little ways to go before she is home, but we are definitely closer.
This is great news! Last year we spent considerable time between PICU and step-down and home, so I know what it's like. Always a big deal when we get out of PICU! Hope she continues to make progress, starts keeping her Sats up on her own and can get off that Bipap. Our little one didn't care for it at all when she had to be on it, and it was hard not being able to see her pretty little face. I believe she will soon!! Hope she continues getting stronger in those little lungs so that she doesn't have to go through pneumonia again and again. That was the usual reason we ended up inpatient for our little one too. Especially being bedridden... I think it was just easier to get a bug or get junk in those lungs and harder to fight it off once in there. XOXO.
