Passport (good) news

We just received the news that Krassi has been successfully driven over the mountains to Sofia to apply for his passport, and has arrived safely back at his orphanage. Apparently he did very well during the whole trip, except at the very end of the drive home he was crying a bit. Can't blame him. That's a long day for anyone! Especially someone who's used to NEVER going anywhere! So hopefully that means next week's one-way trip to Sofia will be a piece of cake. (That's slightly tongue in cheek. The drive is only one very small part of all of the changes that are going on for him next week, culminating in a very long plane ride with two layovers to get back home. A home which is as foreign to him as the language that everybody here speaks!) Still, I'd rather hear that he did well than that he screamed and vomited and was inconsolable for the whole trip. ;)

So, what this means is that by the end of the work day in Bulgaria on Friday, Krassimir should have his passport, which is a necessary thing for him to have before he has his medical exam and TB test next week. This is good news.

The costs associated with today's excursion were not anticipated in all of the numbers that we had to work from as we went into this adoption, and again I marvel that after we thought we had all the money we needed to complete the adoption and bring Krassi home, we were given sizable gifts from a few friends. Once again, I'm reminded that God is not surprised by any of these things, and has been undeservedly good in giving us what we need for this task before we even knew we needed it.

  1. That is good news to hear he took the trip OK!

Hopefully they're prompt at processing the passport. I just got my new one this morning, two days before _I_ need it to go to the US!
